Books donated in support of landscape architecture program

The Faculty of Environmental Design has received a donation of 350 books on landscape architecture in anticipation of a possible Master of Landscape Architecture program. The donation comes to the university as an expression of support from Peter Jacobs, a professor at l'Université de Montréal, and a leading figure in landscape architecture education.

"Our plan is to build a landscape architecture program for the twenty-first century, and this is a huge resource to us," says EVDS Dean Nancy Pollock-Ellwand.

Continuing its efforts to bring students exceptional learning opportunities, and in anticipation of realizing its objective to offer an accredited Master of Landscape Architecture program, EVDS is currently working on a proposal to create the new program and the proposal is moving forward rapidly.

"We are ambitious to move forward as fast as we can," says Pollock-Ellwand, as excitement builds at the prospect of introducing landscape architecture to the faculty. "We're working to build a critical mass of education in the built environment that also builds on our tradition of interdisciplinarity."

EVDS currently offers the only accredited master level programs in architecture and planning in the province. Integrating design, ecology and culture in the making and managing of natural and built environments, their programs are influenced by faculty and students with diverse interests, experiences, and academic and professional backgrounds with a combined commitment to both the environment and leading edge design.
