After practicing landscape architecture and planning with private sector firms in Alberta and Manitoba, I concentrated in urban design. The Urban Lab at the Faculty of Environmental Design is the physical setting for my research at the university, and I maintain a professional practice (Sandalack + Associates Inc. urban design/landscape architecture/planning) through which I attempt to integrate my research with the practical realities of contemporary urban and landscape planning and design. Involvement with local and international design review bodies includes co-chair of the City of Calgary Urban Design Review Panel (since 2004), and standing Chair of the Jury for the International Federation of Landscape Architects Design Competition (since 2003).
