While Louis Sullivan may have given the skyscraper artistic breath, it was William Le Baron Jenney who conceived the skyscraper format from its birth. A true Renaissance Man, Jenney was an architect, an engineer, and a landscape architect. His world travels brought him to study architecture informally, yet he studied architecture academically in France.
