In the late 1940's, oil workers from Texas and Oklahoma began moving to Calgary. They wanted the black gold wealth that was flowing at Leduc. As there was virtually no office space, Calgary lawyer J.B. Barron decided to change this. In 1951 the Barron Building and Uptown Theatre were completed and Calgary would never be the same!
