Nick Puckett, founder of AltN Research + Design, is a developer of custom software and hardware design tool and interactive spaces. He is an Assistant Professor who currently holds the first ever join faculty position with the Department of Architecture and the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Kentucky.

His work focuses on the design of embedded intelligent systems and methods for rapidly injecting digital, electrical, and material technologies into the design process.

Jolie Whetzel is an experienced land use planner with a strong environmental science background. She has had a rich and varied career spanning work on 4 continents, 6 Provinces +Territories, almost 4 decades of work with not for profit, private sector, and all three levels of government. Her early field work career was spent in the Florida Everglades, Norwegian Glaciers, Kananaskis Country, and the Canadian Arctic!

Despite widespread agreement on the need for more sustainable cities and the proliferation of supporting state policies at a variety of scales, very few cities have undergone major transitions toward greater sustainability. Groningen, the Netherlands, is a rare exception to this generalisation.
