Personal Statement

Rylan Graham is a PhD Candidate (Planning) and Sessional Instructor in the Faculty of Environmental Design at the University of Calgary. Graham's scholastic background includes a Master of Arts, Planning from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor of Arts, Geography (Distinction) from the University of Regina.

Graham has practiced as a professional planner in both the public and private sectors, and is a Full Member (MCIP) in the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and a Registered Professional Planner (RPP) with the Alberta Professional Planners Institute (APPI).

Graham has long been fascinated by the social, economic, and environmental issues that encompass the urban landscape. His current research is analyzing the role of intensification as a strategy for growth management in Canadian mid-sized cities.
