Awards & Scholarships
There are several awards and scholarships open to EVDS students. The majority are coordinated by the Faculty of Graduate Studies and are open to all University of Calgary graduate students. Research Related Scholarships
The Faculty of Environmental Design facilitates the following awards and scholarships:
Graduate Student Support (GSS)
GSS funding offered to help support student research. Applications are open to students enrolled full time in a thesis / research-based Masater's or Doctoral degree program. An approved Program of Study (POS) is no longer required for consideration. Students enrolled in a course-based Master's degree program are ineligible.

Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarships (QE II)
The QE II were established to reward the high level of achievement of students pursuing graduate studies in Alberta. Both incoming and continuing students are eligible; no application is required. Recipients are determined either through the admissions process or by the EVDS Awards Committee. The number of allocations changes each year.

Social Science & Humanities Research Council (SSHRC)
The SSHRC is the federal agency that promotes and supports postsecondary-based research and training in the humanities and social sciences. Through its programs and policies, SSHRC enables the highest levels of research excellence in Canada, and facilitates knowledge-sharing and collaboration across research disciplines, universities and all sectors of society.

Natural Sciences & Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC)
The NSERC aims to make Canada a country of discoverers and innovators for the benefit of all Canadians. The agency supports university students in their advanced studies, promotes and supports discovery research, and fosters innovation by encouraging Canadian companies to participate and invest in postsecondary research projects.

Travel Awards and Bursaries
The Graduate Student Association (GSA) offers funding to students who find themselves in financial need or require financial support for non-degree-related expenses, such as attending conferences. GSA bursaries, awards and grants are meant to ease the financial strain faced by active GSA members.
