The interdisciplinary nature of the Faculty of Environmental Design (EVDS) is dependent upon students with a wide variety of backgrounds. Some students enter the faculty directly from their studies at the undergraduate level, while others join our programs after a number of years in the work force.
Applicants must possess a four-year undergraduate degree from a recognized university with a grade point average (GPA) in the final two years of study of at least 3.0, based on a four point grading system. For program specific requirements, please select the program appropriate section of this website: Master of Architecture, Minor in Architectural Studies, Environmental Design (Thesis), Environmental Design (Planning) and PhD.
Transfer credits: "The total of advanced credit and transfer credit (including Open Studies courses) may not exceed either one-third of the program or two full-course equivalents, whichever is less. Advance Credit (including Open Studies courses) is not normally given to courses taken more than five years before admission to the current degree program or for courses taken for the purposes of qualifying for admission (Graduate Studies)."
Please note: EVDS only accepts new students once a year. The deadline to apply is February 1 for September registration. Applicants will be notified of their results by mid-April. Due to limitations on enrollment, not all applicants meeting the admission requirements may be admitted. A rigorous selection process is used to admit students from the pool of qualified applicants. Refer to the current University of Calgary Calendar and the Faculty of Graduate Studies Calendar for further information on admissions.
